When God says in the passage above, “My spirit will not always strive with men”, it means two things:
1. MY SPIRIT WILL STRIVE WITH MAN: This will happen when you as His child are about to step out of line to a region that is not His will for you. You must bear in mind that there is no protection anywhere on the earth, protection is only in the will of God. Whenever you are about to step out of that will, the Spirit of God will strive with you to keep you back. However, this ministry of the Holy Ghost is not His best ministry. You do not want the Holy Ghost to perpetually strive with you because you are so mental or so fleshly. The Bible says there is a way that seems right to a man (Proverbs 14:12); that is your mind.
2. MY SPIRIT WILL NOT ALWAYS STRIVE WITH MAN: This second part means that in the course of the Holy Spirit striving to correct a man, there will come a time that if you are unyielding to His promptings and strivings, the Holy Spirit will let you have your way. He will accept defeat because God is not going to overrule your will. He never wanted us to be zombies. God created us to be free moral agents. You are responsible for your decisions and accountable for them. Nobody should bail you out of the consequences of your decisions.
Decisions have consequences, do not forget.
That is why God gives you information and guidance represented by the Holy Spirit because decisions will not leave you the same.
PRAYER: Lord, I give in to the pull and demand of the Holy Spirit. I repent of every strive against your will, I chose to move at your impulse henceforth in Jesus name. Amen.
