10 April 2025: STRENGTHENING YOUR SPIRITUAL SENSES – Hebrews 5:13-14; Proverbs 20:27

To walk effectively with God, your spiritual senses must remain sharp and active. Hebrews 5:13-14 emphasises this truth: “For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” Spiritual maturity comes as you consistently practice discerning God’s voice and distinguishing between right and wrong.

Your spirit functions similarly to a candle, providing illumination and direction in life’s journey. Proverbs 20:27 explains, “The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.” Just as a candle lights a path in the darkness, your spirit illuminated by the Holy Spirit guides you through life’s uncertainties and complexities.

Consistent spiritual growth and maturity come from actively applying God’s Word to everyday situations. As you immerse yourself in Scripture, you gain wisdom and clarity, enabling you to discern what is of God and what isn’t.

Regular interaction with God through prayer and study sharpens your spiritual sensitivity, empowering you to distinguish clearly between good and evil.

Be diligent to maintain and strengthen your spiritual sensitivity through daily spiritual practices. The more you exercise discernment through consistent fellowship with God, the clearer His voice becomes. By doing so, you’ll confidently make decisions aligned with His will, experiencing His peace and victory in every situation.

PRAYER: Father, sharpen my spiritual senses to discern Your voice clearly. Help me maintain consistent fellowship with You so that I live effectively and accurately according to Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
