04 May 2023: GOD ANOINTS SONSHIP – 1 Samuel 16:1, 11-13

Seven people were presented to Samuel and passed through the channel of the anointing. God was the Source of the anointing and Samuel was the channel. However, the Lord said He had refused the seven. When God chooses you, men cannot displace you. When you are chosen by God, men may not invite you, but they will have to wait for you to come before they start! That is the power of God’s choice.

The first thing that God looks for and anoints is Sonship. God does not look for titles, accomplishments, or brilliance, He looks for sonship.

The question God asks as He goes around looking for “anointable” materials is, “Are you a son?” When He sees a son, He puts the oil on him. God doesn’t put the anointing on any other person except a son. He said, “I have provided me a king among his sons (1 Sam. 16:1).” It is a divine principle that you must align your life with. When you are someone’s son, you are that person’s son everywhere else.

For example, if a gifted musician goes to a church as a new member but does not want to become a part of the structure there, then he is not a son. The advantage of being a son in any church you find yourself in is that you will become a blessing there when you key into sonship. The Kingdom of God is a Kingdom of Father and Son. God is the Father of the family and what He is looking for is sonship.

You may be brilliant or have the power of oratory, but there may not be anointing on you. Dathan, Korah, and Abiram qualified themselves by their self-chosen process, but God said He had not chosen them; He had not called them His sons (Num. 16:1-25). Jesus, our Example Who carried the anointing without measure, came as a son – the Son of the Father. The first thing God said at His water baptism in Luke chapter 3 verse 22 was, “Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”

PRAYER: Lord, I receive a fresh baptism of the spirit of a true son in the Kingdom and in the Church family You have planted me. My sonship will not be poisoned in Jesus’ name. Amen!
