Science and faith in God don’t necessarily conflict. God puts something there and gives man understanding. The understanding of man to search for what God has put there is called science. Science discovers what God has hidden in life. For instance, God stated many centuries ago in Isaiah 40:22 that God sits upon the circles of the earth before philosophers and mathematicians found out that the earth was round. Before that time, the dominant view was that the earth was flat. God was never confused about this and had already indicated the answer in the bible.
You read the book of Job, you find all kinds of scientific facts there. Science discovers what God has put there. It’s only a stupid scientist that doesn’t believe in God; and it’s only a stupid Christian that doesn’t believe in science because you will need either of the two, depending on what level you are.
A woman should not say she won’t go to the hospital to be delivered of her baby. There are many cases where the umbilical cord has twined around the baby and if the mother pushes, the baby is going to be strangulated by the labour process. So, a CS (Cesarean Section) had to be done to bring out the baby because that’s where science helps you. You have to be balanced as a child of God.
Science will help you to a point, but when science gets to a juncture, it says, “I can’t see any more in this area. I don’t understand what is happening”, and faith says, “That is my region”, because “faith is the evidence of things not seen”. Faith says, “That’s my field”. A genuine Christian that wants to live a successful life on the earth will have a correct understanding of faith and science.
PRAYER: Lord, I ask for the wisdom to combine faith and science for my well-being; give me a correct understanding of faith and science for a successful Christian living.
