You are not just called to pass through this world and manage, you are called to face things, conquer them in Christ and turn them to fruits that glorify God. That is why the Christian life is not a religious excursion. It is a race with clear rules and real prizes. In 1 Corinthians 9:24, Paul said, “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize so run, that ye may obtain.” God is not organising a spiritual Olympics where they say, winning is not important, it is participation that matters. Heaven is not giving crowns for trying, Heaven is giving crowns to those who overcome, finish and bear much fruit.
People will cut you out of their groups because you stand for holiness. People will mock the standard you are raising and call you names because you refuse to join them in corruption. There are spirits in territories that want you to live like every other person. On top of that, you still have your flesh, your habits and your own fears to overcome. If you do not understand that you are in a real contest, you will start explaining defeat as normal life. You must develop a holy refusal to tolerate defeat where the will of God is clear.
When you see the devil pushing your life, your church or your family towards shame, something inside you must rise and say, this will not end like this.
However, you do not become an overcomer by human stubbornness, you become an overcomer by vital union with Jesus and obedience to the Holy Spirit. The victory that overcomes the world is our faith, and faith begins where the will of God is known. If you are going to refuse defeat, you must first sit down with the word of God and find out what the will of God is concerning that situation. If the Bible shows you that healing is the will of God, then you have a covenant right to stand against sickness in your body and in your home until it bows. Overcomers do not just shout, they stand on revelation and keep standing. Sometimes you will stand with tears in your eyes, sometimes you will stand when your feelings are screaming the opposite, but as you keep obeying God in that fire, something is growing in you and fruits are growing around you.
THOUGHT TO PONDER: Am I living like a spectator in the Christian race or as a runner who intends to obtain a prize?
PRAYER: Lord, deliver me from a passive, spectator Christian life and awaken in me the true heart of an overcomer who stands on Your word until Your will is done. In Jesus name, Amen.
