Ensure that your children have a personal Father–son relationship with God and let them have their pastor. There have been cases of pastors’ children that strayed from God because they were confused at home. Why? It’s because what they heard in the church was different from what they saw their parents do at home and they wondered, “What is really true about this God, about this Jesus?” They saw a lot of hypocrisies and then walked away from God.
If your childhood is such that your parents failed God by not leading you in His way as they ought, your parents might have failed God, but you cannot afford to fail God.
Your parents might have done their best and might have been limited in knowledge and wisdom, but this is your time and you’ve got to get it right.
There is no mystery about raising Christian children than for you to function as a godly seed and your children would be drawn to God when they see the way you live your life. That is what the Bible meant when it says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Mat. 5:16).”
As parents, you must, first live out the reality of Christianity in the home, at the family level. If you are a hypocrite, you will raise hypocrites. If you are a liar, you will raise liars. One of the terrible things happening in the Body of Christ today is the second-generation unbelievers that are rising. There have been Christian couples who become Christian parents but end up raising unbeliever children. This is a major concern to Heaven! Be sure that you are raising godly seeds in your home.
PRAYER: Father, I’ll live for You within and outside of my home. I will not live a double life. I’ll show my children Your love through my living for You in Jesus’ name. Amen!
