29 November 2025: PRAYING IN THE NAME OF JESUS – John 14:13–14, Philippians 2:9–10

The greatest authority in prayer is the name of Jesus. John 14:13–14 says, “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” To pray in His name is not a religious formula; it is invoking the authority of the risen Lord. Many people end their prayers with “in Jesus’ name” as a tradition, without understanding the weight it carries. The name of Jesus represents His person, His finished work on the cross, and His present reign at the right hand of the Father. When you pray in His name, it is as though He Himself is making the request.

Philippians 2:9–10 declares, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.” This is why demons tremble and situations shift when His name is invoked with faith. The name of Jesus is not a charm; it is a key. It is not magic; it is covenant. If your life is not submitted to His Lordship, you cannot wield His name effectively. Remember the seven sons of Sceva — they tried to use the name without relationship, and the demons overpowered them.

Authority in the name flows from submission to the Lord of the name.

Beloved, take time to deepen your revelation of the name of Jesus. Study the Word to see what His name guarantees—salvation, healing, deliverance, provision, victory. When you pray, do not just recite His name; lean on it with full assurance. Speak His name over your battles, your health, your finances, and your family. Teach your children to honour the name of Jesus and to call on Him in every situation. Stop praying timid prayers; use the name that heaven honours and hell fears. As you do, expect every knee—whether sickness, poverty, delay, or oppression—to bow. The name of Jesus will open doors, silence storms, and deliver victories in ways your strength never could.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: Do I use the name of Jesus as a mere phrase, or do I understand its authority? How can I deepen my submission so I wield His name with greater power?

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, open my eyes to the power in Your name. Let me wield it with understanding and faith, and let every knee bow before its authority. Amen.
