God sometimes grants exceptional experiences to certain believers, not to elevate them above others but to mark them for specific assignments. In John 9:1–3, Jesus made it clear that the man born blind was not suffering because of personal sin but so that the works of God might be made manifest in him. Similarly, in Acts 9:1–6, Saul’s conversion was an exceptional encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus, preparing him for an extraordinary apostolic mission. Exceptional experiences are sovereign acts of God designed to direct, equip, and position individuals for unique purposes in His kingdom.
However, it is dangerous to build your entire Christian walk on the pursuit of exceptional experiences. These moments are given according to God’s will, not by human effort or spiritual ambition. Many believers become discouraged when they do not see visions, hear audible voices, or experience dramatic miracles. Yet, beloved, the strength of your walk with God is not measured by how spectacular your experiences are but by how steady your faithfulness is.
Exceptional experiences are rare gifts, but the normal, consistent walk of obedience, faith, and surrender is what truly pleases the Father and builds maturity in us.
I want you to learn that if God grants you an exceptional experience, receive it with gratitude and humility, but if He leads you through the normal pathway of faith, embrace it with joy and steadfastness. Both paths are precious before the Father. Your destiny will be shaped not merely by extraordinary encounters but by your daily, faithful responses to God’s Word. Let your heart be set not on seeking dramatic moments but on becoming a son or daughter who, through every season, brings delight to the Father’s heart.
THOUGHT TO PONDER: Are you trusting God only when spectacular things happen, or are you learning to walk with Him daily, steadily, and faithfully? How can you shift your focus from seeking experiences to seeking God’s pleasure?
PRAYER: Dear Father, thank You for every experience You permit in my life. Whether exceptional or ordinary, help me to respond with humility, faith, and obedience. Teach me to treasure the walk with You and to live always for Your pleasure. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
