11 July 2022: REFLECTING GOD’S GLORY (3) – ROMANS 12:1-2 (NLT)

Our focus today will be on what Paul wrote next in Romans 12 verse 2. I believe the New Living Translation is instructive here in illuminating what Paul meant.

Romans 12:2 (NLT)
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

This is truly amazing! As you can see from the scripture above, the Bible tells us categorically not to copy the behaviour and customs of the world but we need to let God transform us into new people (this agrees with 2 Corinthians 3:18) by changing the way we think, which will then lead to you knowing what God wants you to do.

Our job now is to renew this mind to the truth in the Bible. Christian maturity is not about how many years you have been born again but about how much your mind has been renewed to think like Christ.

Before you got born again, your mind was already set in a certain way and salvation does not automatically change this; that is why renewing the mind is one of the most difficult works for a Christian. It is the type of work that makes redemption show forth but unfortunately, it is the work we are paying the least attention to. Let God transform you into a new person and allow the Word of God to change the way you think. In these last days, we need believers with the right mindset.

PRAYER: Lord, I make allowance for the transformative power of Your Word to help me change the way I think and bring me into accuracy as far as Your will for my life is concerned in Jesus’ name. Amen!
