Finding Your Purpose In God’s House

There are truths this generation must understand if it is going to walk correctly with God. A new generation is rising in the Body of Christ, and it must learn how God actually works with men. Throughout this month, as we focus on DISCOVERING YOUR DUTY IN GOD’S HOUSE, we will examine how God positions believers and develops them through service. One lesson you must settle early is that your calling rarely begins in isolation. God often places people inside what may be called a container-call: the obedience of someone He has already positioned for a divine assignment. The duties and needs created by that obedience become the environment where others begin to discover their own calling. Many believers imagine they will suddenly step into destiny on their own, but God rarely works that way. In most cases, He plants you within a divine arrangement where training, service, and development begin.

When you study Scripture, you will see this pattern repeatedly. In the Body of Christ at any time, there are those who have obeyed God faithfully, those who have failed Him, and those whom God is raising. If you judge only by outward appearance, you may not recognise the difference unless God opens your eyes. At one time in Israel, Saul occupied the throne while David was quietly serving as a shepherd. One looked established while the other looked hidden, yet God’s dealings were moving in opposite directions. This is why you must know who you are following in God and what example you are attaching your life to. Everything that appears impressive outwardly does not necessarily carry God’s approval. Your destiny is too important to follow the wrong pattern.

You must therefore learn to recognise the flow of God in the Body of Christ and position yourself correctly within it. God does not adjust Himself to human opinions; every man will eventually answer to Him. He called you before you were born, justifies you as you obey Him, provides for you along the journey, and will reward you at the end. Do not confuse provision with reward. Provision sustains you while you run your race, but reward comes when the race is finished. Many labour only for provision and lose sight of the eternal reward God intends. If you are going to fulfil your calling, begin by positioning yourself correctly in God’s arrangement and learning the duties your placement requires.

THOUGHT TO PONDER

Do I recognise the divine arrangement God has placed me in? Am I learning the duties connected to that placement?

PRAYER

Father, open my eyes to the place You have set me in Your house. Help me recognise my duties and walk faithfully in the process You have designed for my calling, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
