Debt is one of the most dangerous holes in a person’s economic life because it allows present desire to consume future resources. Some people speak casually about borrowing huge amounts without a clear plan for repayment. They are not afraid of debt because they see it only as access to money, not as a claim upon tomorrow. Debt is not always sinful, but it must be approached with understanding, caution and a realistic repayment structure. Borrowing to sustain an unpredictable lifestyle is especially dangerous. When income is uncertain, using loans to maintain appearances or cover recurring excesses can quickly create bondage. A healthy fear of debt is not unbelief; it is respect for consequences.

Many people go to prayer meetings seeking financial breakthrough when what they really want is quick money. There is no lasting financial miracle that excuses wisdom. I cannot base ministry obligations on an offering that changes from month to month and then borrow recklessly to fill every gap. That would eventually create pressure capable of distorting decisions and compromising peace. In the same way, a family that continually borrows for ceremonies, clothes, rent or daily consumption without a workable plan is not solving a problem; it is moving the problem forward with added weight. Interest, deadlines and social pressure then begin to dictate choices. The borrower may discover that income is no longer serving purpose because it has already been assigned to yesterday.

Before taking any loan, understand the terms, the true cost and the source of repayment. Do not borrow because others are doing so or because a lender has made access easy. Ask whether the debt will produce value, strengthen capacity or merely finance consumption. Refuse to begin marriage, business or ministry under unnecessary financial pressure. If what you can afford is simple, honour God with it and proceed in peace. There is no shame in a modest wedding, a smaller house or delayed gratification. The shame is in creating an impressive moment that produces years of distress. Protect your future from emotional decisions. Trust God, practise patience and let wisdom determine your pace. Some doors should remain closed until you have the strength to enter them without bondage. Debt becomes demonic in effect when it controls your choices, steals your peace and forces you to spend money you have not yet earned. Do not allow temporary appetite to become a permanent creditor over your life. Where borrowing is genuinely necessary, enter it soberly and with counsel. Never let urgency silence calculation. A decision that feels like relief today may become a chain tomorrow if wisdom is absent. Count the full cost, seek sound counsel, and make sure repayment does not depend on assumptions.

Father, give me wisdom and restraint in every financial decision. Deliver me from unnecessary debt and help me to protect the future You are building for me.
