8 September 2026: YOU ARE ONE, BUT YOU ARE NOT ALONE – Proverbs 30:27-28; Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

The locust has no king, yet it goes forth by bands. That is the wisdom of partnership and unity. One locust may appear insignificant, but a swarm can strip a field because each member adds its strength to the whole. Many believers remain limited because they insist on living only from their personal resources. They attend church, hear the Word and receive prayer, but they never move beyond ordinary membership into purposeful partnership. Membership gives you a place in the house, but partnership connects your resources, prayers and commitment to the assignment of the house. When you become both a member and a partner, you are no longer standing alone; you are taking advantage of the strength God has placed in the body.

A woman once called her unit leader in the middle of the night because armed robbers were outside her house. The leader informed me, and immediately members began to intercede while I also went into prayer. She was one person, but she was not alone. She took advantage of the strength of the church. This is how the locust operates: one for all and all for one. Isolation may look like independence, but it often leaves a person exposed. There are battles, projects and financial responsibilities that are too heavy for one person to carry alone. Wisdom teaches you to build trustworthy relationships, honour covenant structures and recognise the grace in people God has connected to you. Do not merely occupy space in a community; participate in its life and contribute to its strength.

The spider teaches another side of wisdom. It takes hold with its hands and finds its way into kings’ palaces. This speaks of boldness, access and calculated risk. Accumulation and advancement require courage because there will always be moments of uncertainty. Some people have the skill but never knock on the door. Others have an idea but are too afraid to present it, apply, invest or move into unfamiliar territory. Partnership must not make you passive, and boldness must not make you reckless. Learn to combine the locust’s unity with the spider’s courage. Stand with the right people, but also take responsibility for your own move. God can place opportunities before you, yet fear may keep you outside the palace. Refuse isolation, refuse timidity and refuse careless independence. Build alliances that are righteous, contribute your part and be courageous enough to enter the spaces where your gift can serve. Wisdom will show you who to stand with and when to move forward. Do not remain a spectator where God has planted you. The strength you refuse to join may be the very strength required for your preservation, enlargement and next level of expression.

Am I participating meaningfully in the covenant relationships God has placed around me? What opportunity have I avoided because I was afraid to take a responsible step?

PRAYER

Father, deliver me from isolation and timidity. Help me to value godly partnerships and give me the courage to enter the opportunities You place before me.
