Lying is a seed, and every seed produces a harvest after its kind. When you deliberately deceive others, you may think you have escaped an uncomfortable consequence or gained a temporary advantage, but something has been sown into your life. The harvest often results in greater exposure to deception. You become more vulnerable to false information, dishonest people, fraudulent opportunities, and the lies of the devil. The more you practise falsehood, the more familiar its language becomes, until you struggle to recognise it when it is spoken to you. This is one reason lying is never profitable. The person you deceived may not discover the truth immediately, but you have weakened something within yourself and opened your life to a company you do not want. What you celebrate as an escape today may return as bondage tomorrow.

Men of lies attract men of lies. A husband and wife can keep deceiving one another and wonder why trust has disappeared from their home. Business partners can manipulate records and later discover that each person has been secretly manipulating the other. A believer may exaggerate testimonies to impress people, only to become a victim of impressive but false spiritual claims. These are harvests of the same seed. The measure a person gives will return to him. If you sow deception, do not be surprised when deception surrounds you. The devil is the father of lies, and every lie creates some agreement with his system. You cannot continually use his tools and expect to remain untouched by their consequences. If you want a household, career, ministry, and destiny established in truth, you must plant truth consistently in every one of them.

Truth also produces a harvest. The more you commit yourself to absolute truth, the harder it becomes for Satan’s lies to trap you. Truth sharpens your inward discernment because your conscience is accustomed to straightness. Even when you cannot explain immediately what is wrong with a proposal, relationship, prophecy, or opportunity, something within you will register that it does not agree with truth. Therefore, begin sowing the right seed deliberately. Speak accurately, fulfil promises, refuse dishonest gains, and correct misleading impressions. If you have maintained deception in a relationship, stop adding fresh lies to preserve the old ones. Bring the matter before God, receive wise pastoral guidance where necessary, and take the steps required to return to truth. You may face consequences, but truth gives God a righteous foundation upon which to help and restore you. Ask yourself what kind of people, opportunities, and spiritual influences your present words are inviting. Sow truth consistently, and you will reap clarity, trust, discernment, honour, and divine vindication. Let every word you speak keep you in the even place where the God of truth can stand openly with you.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: What kind of harvest are my present words producing? Have I planted any seed of deception that I must uproot by repentance and correction?

PRAYER: Father, forgive every seed of falsehood I have sown. Help me to speak and practise truth consistently, and let my life produce a harvest of integrity and divine vindication in Jesus’ name.
