Listen while praying, commuting, or preparing for the day. There is a question that will always arise in the battles of life: What is the basis of your confidence? Many people draw their confidence from things that cannot stand the pressure of life, money, connections, intelligence, or physical strength. But God makes it clear that none of these should be your foundation. “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom… but let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me.” You may have access to influence, education, or resources, but there are situations those things cannot solve. There are battles where human strength fails, and only the knowledge of God can sustain you. That is why the devil often tests the source of your confidence; he wants to know what you are relying on.
When Hezekiah faced the king of Assyria, the enemy asked, “Whereon do ye trust?” That question still echoes today. Do you trust in your ability, your network, your experience, or in God? The difference becomes clear in times of pressure. Those who trust in human systems will panic when those systems fail. But those who know God will stand firm, even when everything around them is shaking. The Bible says, “the people that do know their God shall be strong and do exploits.” Knowing God produces strength, stability, and boldness. It gives you an inner assurance that cannot be explained by natural factors.
So, examine your life honestly. What gives you peace when things are uncertain? What are you leaning on when challenges arise? If your confidence is not rooted in God, it will eventually collapse. But if you know Him, truly know Him, your life will stand. Make it your pursuit to know God personally, not just information about Him. Walk with Him, depend on Him, and let your confidence be built on that relationship. When God is your source, no situation can overwhelm you. When He is your confidence, your victory is secure before the battle even begins.
THOUGHT TO PONDER
What is truly the basis of my confidence in life? When pressure comes, what do I instinctively rely on?
PRAYER
Father, shift my confidence fully to You. Help me to know You deeply and to stand strong in every situation, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
