As I mentioned yesterday, the apostles and prophets receive the vision from God and teachers break it down and explain what God has said to people in practical and applicable forms.
When you have a calling, God is going to hook you up to somebody somewhere. Sometimes in the early stages of your developmental programme as a minister, God will show you some ministries that you must soak in everything they have. Such form the foundational substance of your value system as well as your perspective on the Christian truth.
Also, for your Christian life to be strong, you must have the breathings of an apostolic ministry or prophetic ministry reaching you somewhere. One of the reasons some orthodox churches died is because they cut themselves away from the apostolic or prophetic flow. If you look at the five-fold offices, apostles and prophets are almost always together. The pastor is the one closest to the people. So many times, when the pastor is speaking, he represents the people to God. When a prophet comes, he represents God to the people.
The prophet generally brings direction, revelation, precision, and accuracy. The prophet brings sensitivity, awakens us to the reality of the spirit realm and sharpens hearing of the voice of the Holy Spirit inside us. That is why we must expose ourselves to that ministry.
The apostle, on the other hand, brings government and order. You are a manifestation of the government in charge of your life now. It’s either the government of the world, the devil, the flesh or the government of the Spirit of God.
PRAYER: Father, help me to stay humble, sensitive, and obedient to you as you send ministry gifts my way for profiting. Amen.
