Abraham remains a shining example of faith partnered with patience. God gave him a promise, and for twenty-five long years, Abraham held on unwaveringly. There was no sign in the natural to confirm what he believed, yet his hope stayed alive. He did not stagger through unbelief but stayed strong in faith, giving glory to God. Even more astounding is Noah, who demonstrated a rare combination of radical obedience and enduring patience. For one hundred and twenty years, he built an ark with no rainfall in sight. He bore mockery, delay, and ridicule, yet he kept building. These men succeeded, not only because they had faith, but because their faith had a backbone of patience.
In Luke 8:15, Jesus reveals a key component of fruitful Christianity: bringing forth fruit with patience.
Faith cannot manifest results without this stabilising force. Isaiah 28:16 reminds us that “he that believeth shall not make haste.” That means rushing can be an indicator that your faith is not fully matured. Haste is often a manifestation of fear, pressure, or anxiety—and these forces are antagonistic to faith. The devil exploits impatience to lure believers into premature decisions that sabotage divine timing. Like hot soup that burns your mouth if consumed in a hurry, rushing your faith process will damage the outcome God intends to bring into your life.
Faith always works, but it only works when it is anchored in patience. Impatience is one of the commonest reasons believers give up just before their miracle shows up. There is no reward for panic or spiritual anxiety. God is not slack concerning His promises; He works according to His divine timeline. Faith says, “God has done it,” and patience says, “I’ll wait till I see it.” This is how we inherit the promises—by faith and patience. Refuse to let the pressure of time, people’s opinions, or your emotions push you out of your stand of faith. Wait with joy, endurance, and unshakable confidence, knowing that He who promised is faithful.
THOUGHT TO PONDER: Are you allowing haste to sabotage your walk of faith? What adjustments can you make to embrace patience as a partner of faith?
Father, deliver me from haste. Help me to make room for my faith to grow, and wait patiently for the fulfilment of Your promises, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
