Listen while praying, commuting, or preparing for the day.Another critical principle in the walk of faith is this: you must learn to see from where you are, not from where someone else is. When God told Abraham to lift his eyes, He said, “from the place where thou art.” That instruction is particularly important. God did not ask him to imagine from another man’s position or compare himself with another person’s journey. Many believers miss God because they are trying to build a vision from borrowed realities. They see someone who is ahead in life and immediately set expectations that do not match their current level. That is not faith; that is presumption. Faith begins with honesty about where you are and then trusting God to take you forward step by step.
When you do not look from where you are, you begin to compare, and comparison will always distort your vision. A man may see his friend who already has resources and results, and instead of building patiently, he tries to jump stages. That is how people enter into unnecessary pressure, debt, and failure. God will never show you a vision that bypasses your present reality. He will show you something that is bigger than you, but it will still be connected to where you are now. If your vision ignores your current state, it is not from God. That is why many people struggle; they are trying to live at a level they have not grown into. God is not in a hurry; He is in a process.
So, settle this in your heart: your starting point matters. Where you are today is not a disadvantage; it is the foundation for where God is taking you. Recognise your present condition; your capacity, your resources, your level of growth, and begin from there. Then trust God to enlarge your vision progressively. As you are faithful in what is before you now, He will show you more. That is how destiny unfolds, line upon line, step upon step. Do not despise your current level, and do not envy another man’s journey. If you look correctly from where you are, your vision will be accurate, your steps will be stable, and your progress will be sustainable.
THOUGHT TO PONDER
Am I building my expectations from where I am or from comparison with others? What present reality do I need to acknowledge before I can move forward with God?
PRAYER
Lord, help me to see clearly from where I am. Deliver me from comparison and presumption, and guide me step by step into Your plan, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
