If you are serious about soul winning, settle this early: everybody will not clap for you. Some will believe, others will not. Don’t turn rejection into a personal insult, and don’t allow one mocker to drain the energy meant for many. Jesus Himself said when a city refuses you, “shake off the dust of your feet (Matthew 10:14 KJV).” That is not bitterness; it is wisdom. Some people are not looking for light; they are looking for a fight. If you stay there trading words, you will end up sweating, irritated, and unfruitful. Learn to recognise when the door is shut. Keep your spirit clean; don’t let offence turn your witness into strife. Shaking dust is not hating them; it is refusing to be trapped. You can leave a simple seed and return another day when God has dealt with the heart. But don’t camp on one ‘no’ while ten ‘yes’ are waiting in your reach.
Understand your role in the process. Paul said, “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increasev (1 Corinthians 3:6 KJV).” That means you can be faithful and not see instant results in every conversation. The gospel is seed; hearts are soil; and God is the One that makes seed grow. Sometimes you are the first seed a person ever hears; sometimes you are the last push before surrender. Don’t try to play the Holy Ghost by force: salvation is not wrestled out of a man’s will. Your assignment is to present Christ clearly and with love, then let conviction do its work.
Rejoice even when you only plant; the kingdom still gained.
Practically, don’t waste the whole conversation on one jester. If the person is openly resisting and only provoking, withdraw with honour and move on. Remember this: no soul is fully won until he is fully established. Dust your shoes from the stubborn, but don’t abandon the receptive; follow up quickly before the seed is stolen. If you must, drop a tract and say, “Call me when you’re ready to talk sincerely.” Then invest your time in the hungry, and keep a simple follow-up plan: call, visit, connect. And keep praying even for the stubborn, but don’t let them stop your assignment.
THOUGHT TO PONDER: Do I waste energy on mockers instead of finding the hungry? Who is one receptive person I must follow up this week until they are established?
PRAYER: Lord, make me wise in witness. Help me sow faithfully, move on from resistance, and disciple the receptive into strong believers, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
