As a woman, it is crucial to grasp the scriptural truths surrounding submission in marriage. According to 1 Timothy 2:11 (NASB), what is required is total submission, not partial submission. Total submission is where a woman finds honour from God. When a woman struggles to submit, she risks stepping ahead of her husband, much like Eve did in the garden when she acted without waiting for Adam’s guidance (1 Timothy 2:14). Some women may attempt to manipulate their husbands under the guise of submission, but this is a dangerous path that can lead to severe consequences.
Failure to embrace total submissiveness can result in dishonour and shame. If a wife disobeys her husband at home, she may encounter shame in other areas of her life. Often, we attribute the difficulties some women face during childbirth to the devil, but the truth may be different. According to 1 Timothy 2:15, a lack of submission can expose a woman to spiritual attacks during childbearing.
True joining cannot occur if the man is not in headship and the woman is not in submission.
Do not construct a home based on partnership or a business arrangement, as this will only lead to struggles rooted in division. While traditional or cultural norms may endorse partnership and compromise, biblical principles provide a clearer understanding of headship and submission, strengthening the foundation of your union. When God unites two people, He connects the head to submission, resulting in unity rather than mere union.
