God gives, but man must gather. Psalm 104 says, “That thou givest them they gather.” This means divine provision does not remove human responsibility. Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes, yet after the multitude had eaten, He instructed the disciples to gather the fragments so that nothing would be lost. Many people pray for increase while wasting what has already been provided in small portions. They expect a large sum before they can do anything tangible, but they ignore the fragments passing through their hands every day. The principle of gathering teaches you to put together what comes in bits until it becomes strong enough to fund purpose, meet responsibility and provide legitimate enjoyment.

God blesses you for at least three reasons: to fund your destiny, to meet your direct God-given responsibilities and to enjoy your life responsibly. Yet many people cannot do any of these well because they spend bit by bit. Salary earners often assume another payment is coming next month, so they consume the present one quickly. By the middle of the month, they are stranded and begin to borrow. Meanwhile, much money has passed through their hands over time, but it never gathered. A person working on a project may appear to have less freedom because he is preserving resources, but eventually he can point to something tangible. Another person may spend more in daily fragments and still have nothing substantial to show.

Ask yourself, “What am I gathering from what God has given me?” Do not despise small amounts. A hundred naira repeated over many days becomes something useful. Daily restaurant expenses, impulsive purchases and minor indulgences can quietly consume the equivalent of land, equipment or business capital. The issue is not that you must never enjoy anything; it is that enjoyment must not swallow destiny and responsibility. Learn to let money stay. Separate fragments before they disappear. Create a designated account or system that receives something from every income, gift or profit. If necessary, ask a trusted person to hold you accountable until the habit becomes strong. Tangible achievements are often accumulated fragments that were protected from waste. Do not eat your future bit by bit. Gather the little, preserve it and allow it to become large enough to answer a serious need. God may already be sending the provision you prayed for, but in portions. Wisdom recognises the portions, gathers them and refuses to let anything be lost. Gathering also requires clear separation. Money kept in the same place as daily spending is easily consumed. Give accumulated funds a name and destination. When money has an assignment, unnecessary desires lose some of their power. Treat every fragment as part of a larger answer that is still forming.

THOUGHT TO PONDER

What fragments of provision have I been allowing to disappear? Which account, goal or structure will I use to begin gathering every small portion consistently?

PRAYER

Lord, teach me to recognise and gather what You provide. Deliver me from waste and help me preserve every fragment until it becomes sufficient for a tangible purpose.
