17 September 2026: LESS EGO, MORE WEALTH – Proverbs 16:18; James 4:6

Humility affects how far wealth can flow through your life. Elisha told the widow to borrow empty vessels from her neighbours and added, “borrow not a few.” The oil was unlimited on God’s side, but the number of vessels she gathered determined the extent of the manifestation. Perhaps there were neighbours she avoided because of pride, offence or social distance. Every door she refused to knock on reduced the space available for the miracle. This is a serious principle: less ego, more wealth. Pride can make a person reject help, despise an opportunity or refuse a legitimate starting point because it does not match the image he has created of himself.

One of my pastors once said that if God instructed him to enter transportation, he could not imagine operating shuttle buses. I told him that God did not ask him to think like a local driver. He was a PhD holder and could build a transport company with the intelligence and systems his education had developed. Humility does not mean functioning below capacity; it means allowing God to redefine the expression of your capacity. A person may reject selling a simple product, learning from someone younger, making a necessary phone call or beginning on a small scale because of the question, “What will people say?” Yet the same person is praying for enlargement. Ego makes people see an opportunity only as it presently appears, while wisdom asks what it can become.

Ask God to anoint your eyes to see potential without allowing pride to close the door. Do not despise honest work, small beginnings or relationships that can supply missing vessels. Your education, title or position should enlarge the quality of what you build, not prevent you from beginning. Some vessels may be people you have ignored, skills you consider beneath you, or systems you never bothered to learn. Pride may also make you insist that opportunity must arrive in a particular package. God is not committed to preserving your image; He is committed to fulfilling His purpose. Let Him choose the form of the instruction, while you bring intelligence, excellence and integrity to its execution. Humility will let you ask questions, request assistance, submit to training and reconnect with people where necessary. Many people are not poor because heaven withheld oil; they are poor because ego limited the vessels. Remove unnecessary pride from your decisions. Knock on the right doors, gather what is needed and let divine supply have room to manifest.

Has pride caused me to reject any legitimate opportunity, relationship or beginning? Which door must I humbly approach so that God’s provision can find greater expression?

PRAYER

Father, deliver me from pride and the fear of people’s opinions. Give me humility to obey You, begin where necessary and recognise the vessels You have placed around me.
