God has placed gifts inside every person, but gifts do not automatically produce wealth. A gift must meet the wisdom of the Holy Spirit before it can yield its proper profit. The earth does not distribute its increase only through salaries; it also yields percentages to people who understand how to apply wisdom to what God has put inside them. A person may be highly educated and still function far below capacity because education alone does not reveal the full use of giftedness. It is painful to see qualified professionals abandon the areas of their strength and settle permanently for work that does not engage their true capacity. A certificate may help you secure a job, but wisdom will show you how your gift can create value beyond a monthly wage.

A gift without wisdom is like an appliance connected to the wrong source. The ability is present, but the connection prevents useful expression. A gifted pastor may teach powerfully and still fail to build people because he lacks wisdom in relationships. A person may possess an obvious eye for design, communication, organisation or teaching, yet remain trapped in work that does not draw on that ability. One woman in Ilesa struggled financially until God gave her the simple idea of selling cassava flakes mixed with peanuts and sugar to students passing her house. The product was ordinary, but divine wisdom connected her location, opportunity and ability. Soon, both students and teachers became customers. Your real work often begins when wisdom introduces your gift to the problem it was designed to solve.

Stop envying another person’s gift and begin to ask God how your own should function. Two people can receive the same money and the same plot of land, yet produce completely different results because their gifts, capacity and wisdom differ. Wisdom directs; it prevents wasted journeys and shows you where to sharpen your edge. Do not argue with your Creator when He points you towards an expression you have not considered. Your training may be useful, but it must not become a cage. Start with a good job where necessary, but keep discovering, developing and applying what God placed inside you. Remember the sequence: gift, wisdom, work and wealth. Laziness will keep the gift buried, but diligence will give wisdom something to work with. A sanctified gift should not be surrendered to fraud, corruption or the devil’s counterfeit. At the new birth, divine grace comes upon what God planted in you, but you must cultivate it responsibly. Parents should also study their children instead of forcing every child into a fashionable profession. When natural aptitude, spiritual direction and disciplined training agree, labour becomes fruitful and destiny becomes clearer.

THOUGHT TO PONDER

What gift has God placed in me that I have not yet connected with wisdom? Am I developing that gift diligently or allowing fear, laziness or conventional expectations to cage it?

PRAYER

Father, baptise me with wisdom and join it to every gift You have placed within me. Help me to work diligently and create value without compromise.
