4 September 2026: NOT EVERY WEALTH IS KINGDOM WEALTH – Deuteronomy 8:18; Matthew 6:24

Not every form of wealth comes from the same source. Wealth may be physical or spiritual in expression, but the controlling force behind it can be divine, worldly, sinful, criminal or occultic. This distinction is important because many believers either condemn every form of wealth or embrace every appearance of success without examining its source. Worldly wealth that comes through normal knowledge, skill and lawful enterprise is not automatically sinful. Riches must therefore be judged morally and spiritually, not merely admired materially. The fact that something produces money does not mean that God approves its method.

Kingdom wealth, however, goes beyond natural ability. It grows out of covenant, godly principles, divine instructions and partnership with God. Sinful wealth comes from immoral practices, criminal wealth from wrongdoing, and occultic wealth from demonic covenants. None of these should be given a Christian label. A person cannot bring the proceeds of fraud, theft or immorality into church and call it kingdom wealth because he paid tithe from it. True kingdom wealth begins with divine ownership. The steward understands that everything in his hand belongs to God, and therefore God has the right to determine how it is acquired, managed and deployed. God is not honoured by an offering that came through rebellion against His standards. The altar does not cleanse money that was deliberately obtained through darkness.

You must examine both the source and the control of what comes into your hand. Do not be impressed simply because someone has money, influence or visible results. Ask what principles produced it, what power sustains it and who determines its use. Kingdom wealth will never require you to violate righteousness in order to maintain it. It will not make you proud enough to say, “I worked for my money, and I will do whatever I like with it.” Instead, it will make you conscious that you are a custodian. At the same time, do not withdraw from lawful opportunities in the name of spirituality. Learn, work, build competence and engage the world strategically, but remain under God’s government. The difference between natural wealth and kingdom wealth is not merely the amount; it is ownership, covenant and obedience. Settle it in your heart that you will not pursue wealth at the expense of your soul, and you will not call darkness light simply because it produces money. You are not truly prospering if money is increasing while obedience, conscience and fellowship with God are being destroyed. Any increase that masters you has already become a loss.

Can the source and methods behind my income stand before the light of God’s Word? Do I regard myself as the owner of my resources or as a steward under God’s authority?

Father, keep my heart from every corrupt path to wealth. Help me to acquire, manage and deploy resources as a faithful steward under Your government.
