26 August 2026: GIVE GLORY TO GOD BY TELLING THE TRUTH – Joshua 7:19–21; Proverbs 28:13

Telling the truth gives glory to God because it acknowledges that His judgment is right and that nothing is hidden from Him. When Joshua confronted Achan, he said, “My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the Lord God of Israel, and make confession unto him.” Achan had concealed what he took from Jericho, but the hidden thing had already affected the whole nation. His confession did not create the truth; it simply brought his mouth into agreement with what God already knew. Whenever you confess wrongdoing honestly, you stop arguing with divine light and take God’s side against your own sin. That humility gives God a righteous basis upon which to begin His work of correction, mercy, and restoration in your life. Truth honours God as the One whose eyes see beyond every carefully maintained appearance.

The flesh often presents lying as a present help in time of trouble. When exposure, punishment, shame, or loss appears near, falsehood can seem like the quickest escape. But Scripture says, “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” Concealment may postpone a consequence, but it cannot produce true prosperity. Everything is naked and open before the One to whom you must give account, and whatever remains hidden from men will eventually be brought to light. Therefore, when a lie appears to be your safest option, let the Word rise within you. Remember that Jesus is Truth, the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, and Satan is the father of lies. Do not choose the nature and method of the enemy merely to preserve your comfort.

Truth does not only require confession; it requires forsaking. It is possible to admit wrongdoing while secretly planning to repeat it. That is not the path of mercy. Speak the truth, accept responsibility, turn from the action, and allow the correction to make you better. Do not wait until you are trapped before deciding what you will do. Make a fresh commitment now that when truth and reputation conflict, you will choose truth; when truth and money conflict, you will choose truth; when truth and an opportunity conflict, you will choose truth. Never lie to obtain what God has not yet released. What the devil pressures you to secure through deception, God can provide in His own time and in a way that will not enslave your conscience. Wait for God’s provision, opportunity, and doing. Every act of truth gives glory to Him, draws mercy, and keeps you where divine leading can remain accurate. Stand openly before God, and let nothing remain concealed that truth, repentance, and obedience should bring into the light.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: Is there anything I am concealing that I must confess and forsake? Will I choose truth when honesty threatens my comfort, reputation, or opportunity?

PRAYER: Father, give me courage to confess and forsake every wrong. Help me to choose truth above temporary escape and always give You glory through an honest life in Jesus’ name.
