Listen while praying, commuting, or preparing for the day.If you are going to walk with God and see His promises come to pass in your life, you must understand that not every kind of faith produces results. The Bible does not leave you guessing; it clearly shows two patterns. On one hand, you have Abraham’s kind of faith; the kind God recommends and rewards. On the other hand, you have Thomas’ kind of faith; the kind many believers practice without realizing why they remain defeated. The Scripture says we should be followers of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises, not just anybody. That means you must be careful who you are copying. Some people get results through connections, background, or natural advantages, but that is not faith. Faith begins where dependence on self ends. If your confidence is in what you can do, what you have, or who you know, then you have not yet stepped into the realm where God operates.
Now look at Thomas’ kind of faith. He said, “Except I see… except I touch… I will not believe.” That sounds logical, but it is dangerous. Many believers live like that today. They are waiting for something physical to confirm God’s Word before they believe. They check their body before they believe healing, their account before they believe provision, and their circumstances before they believe direction. But that kind of faith will always fail because the devil controls the visible realm of symptoms and circumstances. If your faith depends on what you see, the enemy will keep showing you what contradicts God’s promise. That is why Jesus said, “Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” It takes no effort to believe after you have seen; the real faith that moves God is the one that believes before anything changes, even when everything is saying otherwise.
Abraham’s kind of faith is different. Everything about his situation was against the promise, his body was as good as dead; Sarah’s womb was barren, yet he chose to believe. That is the faith that produces results: believing without evidence and even against evidence. This is where many believers lose the battle. They want encouragement from the physical realm before they stand, but faith draws its strength from the faithfulness of God, not from visible proof. If you step into this kind of faith, you will begin to see a shift in your life. Refuse to wait for signs before you believe; choose to believe the Word of God as it is. When you do that, you take the battle out of the devil’s hands and place it back where it belongs, in God’s faithfulness. This is the kind of faith that pleases God, glorifies Him, and produces the result.
THOUGHT TO PONDER
Am I waiting to see before I believe, or am I standing on God’s Word already? What situation in my life is demanding visible proof before I respond in faith?
PRAYER
Lord, deliver me from sense-based faith. Teach me to believe Your Word beyond what I see or feel, and help me walk in Abraham’s kind of faith, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
