One of the most important attitudes a believer must cultivate in discovering and fulfilling the duty of his calling is the willingness to be shaped by God. Many people desire the influence, honour, and impact that come with fulfilling a calling, but they resist the process that prepares them for it. Yet God never releases a person into the fullness of his assignment without first shaping his character, attitudes, and inner life. Just as a potter carefully moulds clay into a useful vessel, the Lord patiently works on the lives of His people, using experiences, corrections, and relationships to shape them into instruments fit for His purpose.

Sometimes this shaping process involves situations that challenge our pride or expose weaknesses we would rather ignore. A believer may feel offended by correction, uncomfortable with discipline, or tempted to withdraw from environments where his flaws are confronted. However, walking away from the shaping process only delays spiritual growth. God does not bring people into His house merely to comfort them; He brings them there to transform them. When believers understand this, they stop reacting defensively to correction and instead welcome the opportunity to grow. The same environment that may appear difficult at first often becomes the place where God produces maturity, wisdom, and stability.

Therefore, allow the Lord to complete the work He has begun in your life. Do not constantly look for environments where people will simply accept you without challenge. Instead, value the places where God is actively working to refine your character and deepen your walk with Him. Every lesson learned in humility and obedience prepares you for greater usefulness in the Kingdom. When you yield to God’s shaping hand, your life gradually becomes the kind of vessel through which His purpose can flow freely and effectively.

THOUGHT TO PONDER

Am I resisting the situations God may be using to shape my character? What correction or lesson might He be inviting me to embrace today?

PRAYER

Lord, I submit myself to Your shaping hand. Remove every attitude that resists Your correction, and mould my life into a vessel that can fulfil Your purpose, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
