Preparing Your Faith Before The Crisis

Another act that moves the hand of God is developing faith before the moment of crisis arrives. Many believers try to start trusting God only when they are already facing a difficult situation. However, faith is not something that is suddenly produced in emergencies; it is cultivated over time through a consistent relationship with God and His Word. The Bible teaches that “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). This means that faith grows as we continually expose our hearts to God’s promises and learn to rely on Him daily. When believers cultivate faith during ordinary seasons of life, they are better prepared to stand firm when extraordinary challenges arise.

Life often brings moments when natural wisdom alone is insufficient to resolve a situation. At those junctions, the decision must be a decision of faith rather than a decision based purely on human reasoning. Many people have faced such moments: moments when doctors have given discouraging reports or when circumstances have suggested that the situation is hopeless. In those moments, faith becomes the key that opens the door for God’s intervention. Jesus demonstrated this principle when He spoke to Jairus after receiving the news that his daughter had died. Instead of allowing fear to dominate the situation, Jesus encouraged him with these words: “Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole” (Luke 8:50). Jairus chose to believe, and his daughter was restored to life. This shows that when believers respond with faith rather than fear, they invite God’s power into the situation.

Faith therefore becomes a vital preparation for life. Believers should not wait until trouble arises before they begin trusting God. Instead, they must cultivate habits that strengthen their faith, such as prayer, meditation on Scripture, and obedience to God’s instructions. As faith grows through these practices, the believer becomes spiritually equipped to face future challenges. When difficult moments arise, faith will already be present in the heart, ready to respond. Acts that demonstrate this kind of prepared faith move the hand of God because they reveal a believer who trusts His ability above every circumstance.

THOUGHT TO PONDER

Am I building my faith daily, or do I wait until challenges arise before turning to God? What habit can I develop today that will strengthen my faith?

PRAYER

Father, help me cultivate strong faith through Your Word and through daily fellowship with You. Prepare my heart so that when challenges arise I will respond with confidence in Your power, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
