29 October 2025: DIRECT YOUR THANKS TO THE SOURCE – Psalm 115:1, 1 Chronicles 29:9
Thanksgiving must be directed, not dispersed. βNot unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give gloryβ (Ps. 115:1, KJV). Men, systems, and circumstances are channels; God is the Source β the unchanging Changer behind the changing scenes of your life. When you transfer to the channel what belongs to the Source, you despise God without knowing. Begin by returning glory to Him openly and first; then honour the channels accurately and appropriately. Say, βGod did it,β and act like it β come with fitting words, a right posture, and a memorial seed. Acknowledge parents and helpers too; gratitude to men does not diminish Godβs honour when God is thanked first and most.
Your thanksgiving must also be willing. In Davidβs day, βthe people rejoiced, for that they offered willinglyβ (1 Chr. 29:9, KJV). Forced thanks is hollow; reluctant honour carries no weight before Heaven. Let willingness rise from revelation: If the Lord had not been there, the enemy needed only moments to finish the job. The breath in your nostrils, the doors that opened, the traps you did not see β all point to a present Help. Willing gratitude opens doors and keeps them oiled; ingratitude breeds a smell that closes hearts and shuts favour.
Choose the path that pleases God: prompt, cheerful, Source-first thanksgiving.
Practically, adopt a two-step rhythm. Step one β Source: return to God with precise words that name His intervention, a posture you would not offer to a man, and a tangible offering that fits the mercy. Step two β channels: send the message, make the call, write the note, pay the visit, or give the gift βaccording to weight.β Keep your thanksgiving timely; stale thanks loses edge. Refuse sentences that centre βIβ β competence, cleverness, connections β and centre βThouβ β mercy, faithfulness, power. When your thanks is directed and willing, Heaven records honour correctly, your heart stays low, and future help finds you faster.
THOUGHT TO PONDER: Have I misdirected glory to channels while neglecting the Source? What cheerful, timely act will return glory to God first β and how will I honour the people He used today?
PRAYER: Lord, not unto us but to Your name be the glory. I return thanks to You first and fully; help me honour every channel willingly and wisely, in Jesusβ name. Amen.
