Faith does not grow automatically; it must be fed. The food of faith is the Word of God. Romans 10:17 tells us clearly, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” If you are not feeding your faith, it will starve and become weak until it is overtaken by unbelief and doubt. Just as a man’s body weakens without food, so also will his spirit man be weak without regular intake of God’s Word. If you are standing on a scripture and it seems your faith is shaking, don’t give up—go back to that scripture and feed your heart again. That is how to strengthen your faith and keep it working.
You must avoid anything that poisons your faith. Just as there is good food for the body and bad food that causes illness, so also there are things you hear and read that poison your spirit and neutralise your faith. If you read a book that says God is teaching you a lesson with your sickness or hardship, shut it and throw it away! That is not the Bible—it is the voice of the devil twisting the truth. Don’t let false doctrine settle in your heart. If you believe those lies, you will stop resisting the devil and start cooperating with him. Guard your heart diligently.
Faith is built on truth. The Word of God tells you to resist sickness, lack, oppression, and every demonic work.
Make it your habit to feed daily on the Word of God and surround yourself with truth. Listen to teachings that build your confidence in God’s promises. Read Christian stories that encourage bold faith. Avoid conversations that promote fear and defeat. Feed on messages, books, and testimonies that speak of God’s power, love, and faithfulness. That’s how to grow your faith strong and rugged faith that stands in the day of trial and does not bow to the threats of the enemy.
THOUGHT TO PONDER: What are you feeding your faith with daily—truth or lies? Are you nourishing your inner man or allowing doubt to take root?
Father, I commit to feeding my spirit with Your Word. Strengthen my faith daily and help me resist every lie that weakens it, in Jesus’ name.
