Apart from the devil making the things of God look stupid, unintelligent, irrelevant, and backward to God’s people, another line of his attack against God’s people and the things of God is to make the ancient evil things of his look innocent, modern, relevant, exciting and in fact, the new wisdom. He doesn’t want you to see anything wrong in sacrificing to the ancient ancestral spirits and idols in your lineage while you still come to church.
If the devil cannot pervert the things of God, he wants to discredit it. One of the ways he uses to get this done is making his things look innocent, modern, exciting, and wise. There are many influential and highly educated people from Nigeria that take water from local rivers with supposed supernatural power overseas. Yet, if a pastor says he went to Israel and brought olive oil from Israel, they will tear him to pieces on the pages of the newspaper while nobody condemns taking water from river overseas.
The devil is all out there to destroy our Christian heritage. Some Christian students studying in foreign countries are getting ashamed of Christianity because of the opinion of the people in their countries of study. I tell our church members who want to go overseas that one of my jobs is to prepare them for what they are going to meet there. Europe has become so godless in a civilized way that if you are not careful, they will take the Bible from your hands without talking about the Bible. Don’t allow western Christianity to make the ancient evil things of the devil look innocent and modern to you.
PRAYER: I will not be a victim of this attack of the devil in Jesus’. Amen.
