Another important key in discovering the duty of your calling is your response to areas where things are not being done well. In every organisation, ministry, or community, there will always be tasks that require improvement. Some people respond to such situations by complaining or criticising, but those who are growing in their calling respond differently. Instead of merely pointing out the problem, they ask themselves whether God has placed them there to help improve the situation. Sometimes the very area where you notice weaknesses most clearly is the area where your responsibility or calling may be developing.

When God places you in a particular environment, He may be using that environment to shape you through practical involvement. A believer who understands this will not act as an arrogant critic who feels superior to others. Rather, he humbly steps forward to contribute where he can. The purpose is not to gain recognition but to grow in usefulness. Many people overlook these opportunities because they are waiting for a prestigious position or a formal appointment. Yet the Kingdom of God often develops people through simple acts of responsibility that others ignore. By faithfully handling what appears small or ordinary, a believer gradually grows into greater competence and spiritual maturity.

Therefore, pay attention to the areas where you see consistent need for improvement. Instead of merely discussing the problem, consider whether God is prompting you to help address it. Approach such responsibilities with humility and diligence, knowing that every task done faithfully contributes to your development. The duty you embrace today may not be permanent, but the character and skill it produces within you will remain. Through this process, God prepares you for greater assignments and shapes you into someone capable of serving His purpose more effectively.

THOUGHT TO PONDER

When I notice something that is not done well, do I respond with criticism or with willingness to help improve it? Could God be using such situations to develop my calling?

PRAYER

Lord, help me respond to needs with humility and responsibility. Teach me to serve faithfully in every task You place before me, and use those opportunities to shape my life for Your purpose, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
