24 May 2026: DON’T BE A SPECTATOR IN GOD’S WORK – Hebrews 6:10; James 1:22
One of the greatest mistakes a believer can make is to become a spectator in the work of God. Some people attend church regularly, listen to sermons faithfully, and observe the activities of others, yet they remain passive and uninvolved. They watch what is happening but never truly participate in it. However, the Kingdom of God is not designed for spectators; it is designed for participants. Every believer has a place where he is meant to contribute, serve, and grow. When a person chooses to remain on the sidelines, he not only deprives the work of God of his contribution, but he also limits the development of his own calling.
God never intended His people to sit back and criticise the efforts of others. It is easy to point out what is wrong in a ministry or organisation, but criticism alone does not advance God’s work. Instead, the believer who is serious about his calling asks a different question: “Where can I serve? What need can I help address?” The moment a person shifts from observation to participation, his perspective changes. He begins to appreciate the responsibilities involved in serving God and gains deeper understanding of the work being done. Through such involvement, character is shaped, humility is developed, and spiritual maturity begins to grow.
Therefore, refuse the temptation to remain merely an observer in the Kingdom of God. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you where your contribution is needed and step forward in obedience. The duties you accept today may appear small or unnoticed, but they are often the training ground through which God prepares you for greater responsibilities in the future. When you become a willing participant in God’s work, you position yourself to discover the duty of your calling and to grow into the purpose for which God created you.
THOUGHT TO PONDER
Am I actively participating in the work of God, or have I become a spectator? What step can I take today to contribute meaningfully to God’s Kingdom?
PRAYER
Father, deliver me from a passive attitude toward Your work. Help me become a faithful participant in the responsibilities You have placed before me, and develop my calling through every act of service, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
