Acts Of Love That God Never Forgets
One act that moves the hand of God in a very powerful way is an act of genuine love and devotion toward Him. God does not ignore such acts. When love for God becomes real in a person’s heart, it will eventually express itself in actions that go beyond convenience. The Bible records the story of a woman who came to Jesus with an alabaster box of very costly ointment and poured it upon Him (Matthew 26:7). That ointment represented more than a year’s wages, yet she broke it without hesitation because her love for Jesus was greater than the value of the perfume. Some people around criticised her action and called it wasteful, but Jesus defended her. He declared that wherever the gospel is preached in the world, what she had done would be remembered as a memorial. That moment reveals an important truth: heaven does not measure acts by human calculation but by the love that motivates them.
In many cases believers expect rewards only in visible or immediate ways. However, God sometimes rewards acts of devotion in ways that we may not immediately recognise. A person may labour faithfully in God’s house and wonder why others appear to have more visible testimonies. Yet God’s reward system is deeper than outward appearances. Sometimes the harvest of an act of love appears in a moment of protection, preservation, or unexpected favour. Scripture assures us that “God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love” (Hebrews 6:10). Every act done for Him and His kingdom is recorded before Him. It may not return in the form we expected, but it will certainly return in a way that proves God has remembered.
Believers must therefore learn to serve God with a heart of love rather than calculation. When love becomes the driving force behind our actions, we are willing to respond when God places demands upon us. Those demands may involve sacrifice, generosity, service, or commitment to the things that concern His kingdom. Such acts may appear small or inconvenient at the moment, but they create spiritual seeds whose harvest may appear in moments when only God’s hand can intervene. Acts of love move the hand of God because they demonstrate that our relationship with Him is genuine. When love for God motivates our obedience, we position ourselves under the remembrance and favour of heaven.
THOUGHT TO PONDER
Are my acts toward God motivated by love or by convenience? What act of devotion can I offer to God today that truly reflects my love for Him?
PRAYER
Father, let my love for You be sincere and expressed through my actions. Help me serve You with devotion and generosity so that my life continually honours You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
