Many people want God to fix their situation, but mercy often begins by helping you understand it. Before power ends a matter, mercy exposes the truth behind it. Jesus said, “Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God” (Matthew 22:29). That statement reveals two dangers: ignorance of God’s Word and ignorance of God’s power. Mercy does not leave you confused about either. It opens your eyes so you can correctly identify what you are dealing with. The woman with the issue of blood did not only have a sickness; she had a prolonged problem that turned her into a patient for twelve years (Mark 5:25–34). Mercy began to work for her when she stopped guessing and started understanding where help truly lay.
Many believers suffer longer than necessary because they misdiagnose their situation. Some problems are natural, others are supernatural, and some are rooted in habits, relationships, or disobedience. Mercy helps you see clearly so you stop fighting symptoms and start addressing causes. God does not teach His children lessons through affliction; oppression is the work of the devil (Acts 10:38). When mercy enlightens you, guilt and confusion lose their grip. You realise that your problem is not unique, not permanent, and not stronger than God. Understanding this shifts your posture from helplessness to expectation.
Mercy removes the lie that “nothing can be done” and replaces it with faith that something can be done because God is involved.
Today, allow mercy to correct your thinking. Stop defining yourself by what you are battling. You are not your problem; you are a candidate for God’s intervention. When understanding comes, faith rises, and when faith rises, power responds. Mercy gives you clarity so that power can bring change. As you journey forward, remember this: God often explains before He delivers. He enlightens before He empowers. When mercy shows you the truth about your situation, power will not be far behind. You are not stranded; you are being prepared for divine resolution.
THOUGHT TO PONDER: Have I correctly understood the root of what I am dealing with? What truth from God’s Word do I need to embrace today?
PRAYER: Father, by Your mercy, give me clarity and understanding. Remove confusion and prepare my heart for Your power to work, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
