Every destiny stands or falls on the foundation it rests upon. If you want to last in marriage, ministry, and life, you must first ask: What am I building on? Paul declared, “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 3:11). A man who builds on shifting sands of emotions, family pressure, or human wisdom will soon see his life crumble under the weight of storms. Marriage is not a romantic excursion or a temporary arrangement: it is a destiny decision. When you choose a partner outside the will of God, you are not just choosing a spouse; you are choosing frustration, derailment, and possible destruction of purpose. Jesus warned that the foolish man who built on sand suffered a great fall, while the wise who built on rock withstood the storm (Matthew 7:24–27).
As we explore the subject, ‘The Marriage that Preserves and Powers Destiny’ in this devotional, I want you to understand this: Satan is not primarily after your beauty, money or certificate: he is after your foundation. If he can corrupt your marital foundation, he has already secured an opening to damage your destiny. That is why the devil will often make wrong choices look attractive, quick, and urgent. But destiny decisions are not taken under pressure. They are taken on your knees, waiting on God until His voice is clear. A right foundation in marriage will multiply your strength, but a wrong one will drain it. A partner chosen by the flesh may look glamorous now, but glamour cannot hold destiny. Only God’s will can.
The foundation you lay will determine whether you build in peace or in perpetual struggle.
So, before you step into marriage, or any major decision, settle this: Is this the will of God for me? Is Jesus truly Lord over my choices? Many claim to love Him, but when it comes to marital choices, they shove Him aside. That is rebellion dressed in religion. You cannot declare Him Lord on Sunday and dethrone Him on Monday because of your feelings. A destiny without a sure foundation is a building marked for collapse. But when your foundation is Christ, storms may come, pressures may rise, delays may frustrate; but you will stand strong and finish your course. My charge to you is simple: don’t just prepare for a wedding, prepare for destiny. Don’t just seek companionship, seek God’s ordained partner. Build correct foundations in your marriage. Lay your foundation right, and your destiny will not crack under pressure.
THOUGHT TO PONDER: What is the foundation upon which I am building my life, marriage, and destiny? Have I truly allowed Christ to determine my choices, or am I still ruled by my emotions and desires?
PRAYER: Lord, help me to build every area of my life on Christ the sure foundation, and never allow me to compromise destiny for convenience.
