1 September 2026: WHEN RICHES ARE NOT WEALTH – Proverbs 13:7; Luke 12:15

Many people desire wealth, but what they are really pursuing is riches. Riches are tangible: the house, the car, the clothes, the account balance and everything that can be displayed before men. Wealth, however, is deeper than what the eyes can see. I want you to understand that God is not only interested in what comes into your hand, but also in what you are able to gather, preserve, multiply and deploy for His purpose. A person may possess expensive things and still be financially weak, while another with fewer visible possessions may carry knowledge, discipline, productive systems and investment capacity that make him truly wealthy. You must settle this matter early: wealth is measured by the strength behind your life, not merely by the things arranged around you. Visible riches can create an illusion of progress while the foundation remains empty.

This is why two people can earn the same salary and end up in completely different places. One thinks only about spending, while the other is developing the wisdom to build, gather and multiply. If you ask many people how they would double a certain amount of money within six months, they have no answer because multiplication is not part of their thinking. They are planning what to buy, not what to build. A wrong lifestyle can keep a person on one level even after income increases. The devil may change the job without changing the appetite, and the person will remain trapped. Until the lifestyle is corrected, a better opportunity will not produce a better future. Income may rise, but the same person simply upgrades expenses, enlarges obligations and continues living without reserves. Increase without inner change only produces a more expensive form of bondage.

You must master how you handle what God gives you. Train yourself and train your children not to become mere consumers. Poor people often make rich people richer because they keep buying what others produce, yet they never seriously plan to produce, sell, save or invest anything themselves. Teach your household that every money earned is not for immediate enjoyment. Ask whether the money entering your hand is only passing through you to another person. Make up your mind that you will not merely work daily, spend daily and remain at the same level. Begin to build hidden strength through savings, useful knowledge, productive skills, disciplined habits and obedience to divine instructions. Riches may attract attention, but wealth gives stability, capacity and options. Do not be deceived by appearances. Learn the wisdom to gather, because what you preserve and multiply today can become the strength that funds your destiny, carries your responsibilities and advances the purpose of God tomorrow.

THOUGHT TO PONDER

Am I building genuine financial strength or merely displaying visible possessions? What productive capacity am I intentionally developing with the resources God has placed in my hands?

PRAYER

Father, deliver me from the deception of appearances. Give me wisdom and discipline to gather, preserve and multiply resources for my responsibilities and Your purpose.
