10 February 2026: DON’T RAISE A SECRET CHRISTIAN: RAISE A DISCIPLE – Colossians 1:13; Matthew 10:32-33

Salvation is not a handclap; it is a transfer. God “hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son (Colossians 1:13 KJV).” So when a man truly comes to Christ, he has changed kingdoms, changed ownership, changed direction. That is why follow-up is serious: if you don’t help him settle in the new kingdom, the old one will come to collect him like unpaid debt. One of the first battles is secrecy: “I’ve accepted Jesus, but please don’t tell anybody.” Jesus said confession before men matters; you don’t take a new Lord and hide Him like contraband. Help the new believer settle it early: salvation is not a private hobby; it is a public allegiance. If he is ashamed of Christ, he will soon be ashamed of the Word, ashamed of prayer, and ashamed of church.

Discipling a new believer is not just telling him, “Come to church.” It is making Colossians 1:13 KJV real in his daily life: helping him establish his own walk with the Lord. Share what you know little by little: prayer, the Word, purity, forgiveness, giving, and resisting temptation. Then help him join, attach him to Christ and the church, not to you; don’t build an unhealthy emotional dependence. And don’t make it complicated: give him four daily pillars to grow on: Bible, prayer, fellowship, and testimony. Ask if he has a Bible; if he doesn’t, don’t pamper him into laziness: every man must value God’s Word enough to get his own.

If you must lend one briefly, do it, but insist he buys his Bible and starts reading.

Help them note their day of conversion, enter believers’ class, and integrate them into the local assembly where they can have friends in church. Don’t send him back to the old place where he kept coming and never got saved: bring him into sound fellowship. Then push him gently into witness: let him confess Christ and start inviting others. If you will do this, you won’t just count converts; you will raise disciples.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: Have I helped any new believer move from secret faith to open confession and steady habits? Who will I follow up today to strengthen and connect to sound fellowship?

PRAYER: Father, make me faithful in follow-up. Establish new believers in Your Word, prayer, fellowship, and bold confession of Christ. Use me to raise disciples, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
