In as much as your success and victories are dependent on a strong and thriving relationship with the Holy Spirit, you need to be sound in the Word of God. As a believer, you must be strong in the spirit and sound in the Word of God. When a Christian is strong in the spirit and weak in the Word of God, his experiences will be imbalanced. The same thing applies when you are strong in the Word of God and weak in the spirit. If you had to choose, it is better to be strong in the Word but weak in the spirit. This way, you will be safe. And even though you may not have as much speed in the things of God as you want, you can be sure that you will be preserved.
However, if you are stronger in the spirit but weak in the Word of God, you will be prone to error because God gave us the Bible as a guide to show us the limits of safety in our explorations of the spirit realm. The Bible tells us what is within and off limits. So, if you do not know the Word of God, you may not be able to identify the source of your spiritual experiences. Everything in the Spirit has its source, either from God or the devil, divine or demonic. Also, understand that there are different voices in the spirit realm. However, being sound in the Word of God will help you to identify strange voices and communications.
Overall, while it is safer to be stronger in the Word than in the Spirit, it is better to be balanced.
The process that will give you safety is to be sound, first in the Word of God, then to become strong in the spirit.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to be sound in your word and strong in the spirit to be able to experience the fullness of your counsel and what Christianity offers. Amen.
