The Bible specifically mentioned Abraham’s kind of faith as the kind of faith that pleases God, glorifies God, obtains divine results, and gets the will of God fulfilled on the earth. I am sure you want to obtain the promise of God in your life and also obtain divine results. If you are going to have that, it’s going to be by Abraham’s kind of faith.
Thomas’ kind of faith is what most people are practising and it doesn’t produce the God kind of result. It is based on what you can see and feel and that’s where the devil defeats many people by using symptoms and circumstances to convince them that the promise of God will not come to pass. This kind of faith says, “Except I see and touch, I will not believe” and “Because I have seen, I believe.” Ordinarily, it doesn’t take any effort to believe when you can see the evidence.
The devil will always defeat Thomas’ kind of faith that needs to feel something before he believes that God’s promises are true. Such believers need to see certain signs and wonders before they believe just like the Pharisees told Jesus to show them signs before they could believe (Mat. 16:1-4).
God puts His blessing on the kind of faith that doesn’t depend on visible or physical evidence before believing the promises of God (Joh. 20:29b). If you are waiting for anything physical to encourage you to believe, then you are exercising the Thomas’ kind of faith and it does not please God. The kind of faith God wants you to practise is believing without visible evidence and believing against contrary visible evidence.
PRAYER: Lord, I repent of the wrong posture I have taken in believing You. I judge You faithful in Jesus’ name. Amen!
