We now know that God wants us to be His mirrors on the earth. God wants us to reflect Him in every way we can. Romans 12:1-2 gives us the general picture of how we are to achieve this.
Romans 12:1-2
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
This is interesting because Apostle Paul tells us a few things that must be analysed individually to get the full message. We are to present our bodies as living sacrifices. A living sacrifice sounds like a contradiction but it means you treat your body as though it is no more your own. You treat it like it’s God’s property now. You must see your body as His temple.
1 Corinthians 6:19
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”
We are to present our bodies as holy, acceptable unto God. To be holy is to be without blemish. The key point here, however, is to ensure that in your quest to be holy, you do not become a hypocrite. A lot of Christians have lost their way because as they tried to become holy, they started doing it to satisfy men and no longer God. You must avoid this. God detests hypocrites.
Also, it is worthy of note that holiness and righteousness are two different things. Righteousness is your status as a genuinely saved individual, whereas holiness is the lifestyle that’s an expression of your status as a righteous person. You must in accordance with Romans 12 verse 1 strive to live a life that is holy and acceptable to God.
PRAYER: I receive the grace to consistently present my body as God’s temple and live a holy life in Jesus’ name. Amen!
