Some people are not rejecting Jesus first; they are rejecting the version of Christianity they saw in you. That should sober you. If your mouth is saying, “Come to Christ,” but your life is saying, “Stay where you are,” the sinner will believe your life. You can share tracts, send links, invite them to church, and still cancel it all with one stubborn compromise. A dirty mirror cannot show a clear face. And don’t comfort yourself with, “Nobody is perfect.” There is a difference between a man who is sincerely growing: repenting when he falls: and a man who is pampering sin and calling it grace. You are Christ’s epistle, read by all men at home, in the office, and on the street; make sure they are reading Jesus, not confusion.
The gospel is not meant to come “in word only.” Paul said it came “in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance (1 Thessalonians 1:5 KJV).” That means your witness must carry spiritual weight: conviction, purity, authority, and the quiet confidence of a man who walks with God. If you are living a defeated Christian life: secret sin, uncontrolled temper, bitterness, double-talk: your mouth can be loud while your spirit is weak. And when your spirit is weak, you will be timid when you should be bold, and careless when you should be sensitive. Victory is not show; it is dominion: over sin, over self, and over Satan’s suggestions.
When your private life is clean, your public witness has authority, and people can sense that your Christ is real.
So take responsibility today. Before you talk to men, talk to God. Ask Him to search you; repent quickly where you have compromised; make amends where you have wronged people. Build daily habits that keep you strong: Word, prayer, fellowship, and obedience. Refuse isolation; Satan loves lone wolves. Keep your conscience tender: forgive quickly, apologise quickly, and refuse bitterness, because a bitter believer cannot preach a sweet Christ. Let your joy advertise the gospel in tough seasons. Put boundaries around your eyes, your mouth, your phone, your money, and your relationships. Then go out with confidence: your life is backing your message.
THOUGHT TO PONDER: Is my private life helping my witness? What one compromise must I cut off this week?
PRIÈRE: Father, cleanse and strengthen me. Align my life with Your Word; let my witness carry power, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
