Spirit Meat Daily Devotional
26 November 2022: UNDERSTANDING THE BURDEN OF THE LORD IN INTERCESSION (6) – 2 Corinthians 7:9-11; Nehemiah 1:1-3; 1 Samuel 24:5
The burden of the Lord can be a pull of the call or a sense of an assignment. Nehemiah had such an experience. When Nehemiah received news from Jerusalem that the walls were broken down, a burden was laid upon his spirit, and he went to fast and pray. It can happen to you such that you heard something about your land and the burden of the Lord comes upon your spirit.
By the time Nehemiah showed up before the king, the king granted every request he made, including money and all that was needed. All these happened because he birthed the purpose of rebuilding that wall in the place of prayer.
When you have that weight on your spirit, yield to it, begin to pray in the Spirit and pray the word that God sent. There is a force of the anointing that will be released as you do so.
Sometimes when that weight comes, it could be a prophecy that God wants to release, and something will hang in there like a weight inside you. So, pray until it lifts. Sometimes it could be God demanding that you lie down and continue to pray until the burden is lifted. Whichever way, you must be sensitive to the divine signal.
The burden of the faithful is more assignment. When you are faithful in some areas, the Holy Spirit will bring this burden upon your spirit from time-to-time. This burden of the Lord is always in line with the will of God; it is God working upon the spirit of man.
PRIÈRE: Lord, I receive grace and strength to effectively yield to divine burden and accurately birth Your will and purpose in Jesus’ name. Amen!
