A burden is a weight on your heart. It comes like a weight, a sorrowful feeling in your spirit. The burden of the Lord is the weight of the Lord upon His people that He has chosen. This burden is not the burden of sin, problem, death, sickness, or evil. This is because the commandments of the Lord are not grievous (1 Joh. 5:3). Though the burden may come with a sorrowful feeling, it is for a purpose.

Jesus at Gethsemane in Matthew 26:38, said, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful.” A divine burden came like sorrow upon His Spirit and He said to His disciples, “Tarry ye here, and watch with me.” Then Jesus began to pray, “O my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.” Jesus prayed the same prayer thrice and birth the process He would go through on the cross. He was beaten and stripped naked with a crown of thorns on His head, but He prayed for the event earlier when He felt the sorrow and the weight upon His Spirit.

The burden of the Lord is the burden of His purpose breaking from the spirit realm into manifestation in the earthly realm.

God lays His burden upon the spirits of His people so that they can birth it in the place of prayer.

PRIÈRE: Lord, I pray not to miss Your workings and plans for my life. I will not neglect the divine burden that can connect me to my purpose in Jesus’ name. Amen!
