What we found out about the Bible is that the Bible does not paper over the fault or failure of the heroes of the Bible. This, I believe is so that we can learn from their lives and grow. The Bible says those things that happened to them and were recorded are for our learning and for our education as we pursue destiny in our own days (I Cor. 10:11).

I believe those pursing destiny in these last days have no excuse to fail because the people that we read about in scriptures didn’t have a copy of the Bible like we do; they didn’t have the baptism of the Holy Spirit which we do, yet a lot of times you found out that they appeared stronger than people in the last days, why? The reason is because we are not learning the right lessons that we should learn from their lives.

Judges 13: 1 “And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years”

A lot of times in the Old Testament you find the phrase, “in the sight of the Lord”. Something may be evil in the sight of God and not evil in the sight of men. If you will survive as a believer, one of the first things you must ask is, "how does this look to God?" not how does it look to men? In life, many things may look all right before men but completely wrong to God. On the other hand, there may be something good to God which seems very bad in the eyes of men. Thus, for you to earn greatness with God, you must balance and understand this difference.

Notice that greatness with men does not produce greatness with God but greatness with God will eventually produce greatness with men. For example if you don’t come to Church on Sunday, to you and the people around you, it may not be evil but it may be very terrible before the Lord. Therefore, you must find out how your action looks before God. This is one of the lessons you must learn if you are going to make it as a believer especially if you are in leadership.

Prayer: Lord, I receive your grace to take heed to my life and learn the right lessons that I must learn according to the examples you have set before me in your word in Jesus’ name. Amen.
