The force of expectation is a very powerful force in the spirit and you must understand it carefully. I want you to know it today that whatever you are expecting will surely come to pass. If you expect it, you will get it and if you are not expecting it, you will not get it. If you will be all that God wants you to be in life, you must not just believe God for His promises in your life, you must begin to consciously expect those promises. There is a supernatural force that draws whatever you are expecting towards you. Look at what the Bible says about expectation in this passage:

Proverbs 23:18: "For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off."

Can you see the passage above? The Bible says that your expectation shall not be cut off. So I need to ask you what you are really expecting in life. Let me quickly show you the different kinds of expectations in life.

1. Your own expectation

Over and above what every other person expects over you, it is your own expectation that matters most. If you expect right based on the promises of God, you will have your expectation. And if you expect wrong, based on your past life, your ancestry, past experiences, your environment, situations and circumstances around you and what the devil has done in your life in the past; you will also have what you expect. If you understand the fact that God is committed to your expectation, you will expect right and have your expectations. Many people get into trouble because they get what they are expecting and what they are expecting is not what God wants to give them. Most of the time, we expect what the devil wants to give but God wants you to re-programme yourself such that what you are expecting is what He planned to give you. It does not matter what the expectation of men and Satan are over your life, if your expectations in life are tailored towards what God has promised you in His word; you will always have God’s promises come to pass in your life.

No matter what happens to you or what you are going through in life, never let your own expectation over your life be negative. Your outcomes in life will not just be according to your prayers, your faith, and your confessions but also according to your expectation. If your prayers, faith and confessions are right but your expectation is wrong, your outcome will end up wrong since the Bible says that your expectation shall not be disappointed. Whatever your situation is, let your position and earnest expectation be like that of Paul the Apostle in the passage above that,  “in nothing shall I be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death." Philippians 1:20. The Lord will help you in Jesus’ name.

Prayer: Father, I pray that you will help me to maintain a positive expectation at every time and every situation of my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
