Many believers think that obedience only produces immediate results, but in God’s kingdom, obedience often becomes a seed whose harvest may appear much later. Sometimes the reward of a faithful act does not even appear directly in the life of the person who performed it; it may show up in the life of their children or in a future moment when divine intervention is needed. This is why Scripture teaches that “whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” (Galatians 6:7). Obedience is never wasted in God’s economy. Each act of obedience becomes a spiritual deposit that God remembers and honours at the appropriate time.

There are moments when God asks His children to respond in ways that are not convenient. Sometimes it may involve helping someone, making a sacrifice, or responding to a need that appears suddenly. In such situations, the temptation is to ignore the prompting because the demand appears inconvenient. Yet those moments are often opportunities placed by God. Throughout Scripture we see people whose obedience opened doors for divine involvement. Abraham obeyed God and left his familiar environment even though he did not know where he was going (Hebrews 11:8). That single act of obedience became the foundation of a covenant that blessed generations after him. When believers respond to God’s instructions with such readiness, they plant seeds that heaven can later use to intervene in situations that human effort alone cannot resolve.

Believers must therefore develop a lifestyle of obedience rather than occasional responses to God. Obedience should become a normal expression of our relationship with Him. Each time God prompts us to act in love, generosity, service, or faith, we should recognise the moment as an opportunity rather than a burden. The act may appear small at the time, but it may create a harvest that protects, preserves, or blesses lives in the future. When believers respond to God in this way, they are not merely performing religious duties; they are sowing seeds that invite the hand of God into their lives and into the lives of those connected to them.

THOUGHT TO PONDER

Do I treat obedience to God as an inconvenience or as an opportunity? What step of obedience might God be prompting me to take today?

PRAYER

Father, give me a willing heart to obey You promptly and sincerely. Help me recognise opportunities to act according to Your will and to trust that every act of obedience will produce a harvest in Your time, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

Judges 6:1-40, Luke 22:54-23:12, Psalm 95:1-96:13, Proverbs 14:5-6

[1
476
post-8160","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized","tag-devotional
["GET
