Passion reveals what truly occupies the centre of a person’s heart. When a believer becomes deeply concerned about the things that matter to God, his actions begin to reflect that concern. The Bible gives a remarkable example in the life of David. One day David sat in his house and began to think about the condition of the Ark of God. While he was living comfortably in a palace, the Ark of the covenant was still dwelling in a tent. That thought stirred something powerful in his heart. David declared that he would not give sleep to his eyes until a proper place was found for the Ark of the Lord (Psalm 132:3-5). This act of passion for God’s house deeply touched the heart of God. It revealed that David’s heart was aligned with what mattered to God.

Interestingly, God did not permit David to build the temple. Yet David’s passion did not disappear simply because the assignment would be fulfilled by someone else. Instead, he began to prepare materials, resources, and plans so that the temple could be built in the future. David’s actions showed that his concern was not about personal recognition but about honouring God. When God saw the sincerity of David’s heart, He responded with a powerful promise. The Lord declared that though David would not build the temple himself, his son would build it, and God would establish David’s house and legacy (2 Samuel 7:12-13). This demonstrates an important principle: when believers show genuine passion for God and His purposes, it moves His heart and releases blessings that extend beyond their own lives.

Passion for God expresses itself in many ways. It may appear in the desire to advance the work of God, to serve faithfully, or to invest time and energy in His Kingdom. Sometimes these acts are small and unnoticed by others, but they are significant in the sight of God. The question every believer must ask is this: what truly drives my heart? Many people have strong passion for career, comfort, or personal achievements, but little passion for God’s Kingdom. Yet the Bible says of Jesus, “The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up” (John 2:17). When believers cultivate that kind of passion for God and His purposes, it attracts the attention of heaven. Acts that demonstrate genuine zeal for God’s work often move His hand to respond with favour and blessing.

THOUGHT TO PONDER

What truly drives my passion in life? Does my zeal for God and His purposes reflect the priority He deserves?

PRAYER

Father, ignite in my heart a deep passion for Your purposes. Let my life reflect zeal for Your Kingdom so that everything I do brings honour to Your name, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

Joshua 21:1-22:20, Luke 20:1-26, Psalm 89:1-13, Proverbs 13:15-16

[1
476
post-8154","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized","tag-devotional
["GET
