H<\/span>onour for God is not only expressed in words or spiritual language; it must also be demonstrated through practical actions. One of the clearest ways the Bible teaches us to honour God is through how we handle our substance. Scripture says plainly, \u201cHonour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase\u201d (Proverbs 3:9 KJV). That instruction shows that honour is connected to the value we place on God in tangible matters. Many believers are comfortable singing songs of honour to God, but when it comes to giving Him the first and the best of what they have, they become hesitant. Yet the Bible reveals that our offerings, our first fruits, and our giving are not merely financial activities; they are acts of honour toward God. They demonstrate the place God occupies in our hearts. When a believer honours God with his substance, he is declaring that God is more important to him than the resources he possesses.
The prophet Malachi revealed how seriously God views this matter. God confronted the people of Israel because they were bringing offerings that dishonoured Him. They were presenting blind, lame, or defective animals as sacrifices, things they would never have offered to their earthly governor. God asked them a piercing question: \u201cOffer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person?\u201d (Malachi 1:8 KJV). The problem was not simply the offering itself but the attitude behind it. Their actions revealed that they placed little value on God. When believers give to God casually, reluctantly, or with leftovers, they unknowingly communicate the same message. Honour requires that we give God what reflects His true worth in our lives. It is not merely about the amount we give but the value we place on Him through the act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When giving becomes an expression of honour rather than obligation, it moves the hand of God in powerful ways.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

This principle should challenge us to examine our attitudes toward the things we present to God. In everyday life, people naturally give their best when they want to honour someone important. When visiting a respected leader or dignitary, they carefully select gifts that reflect respect and appreciation. Yet some believers approach God with far less thoughtfulness. Honour teaches us to reverse that attitude. When God truly occupies the highest place in our hearts, the way we give, serve, and present our resources to Him will reflect that value. Honour is not forced; it flows from a heart that recognises who God is. And when a believer consistently honours God with his substance and priorities, he places himself in a position where the favourable hand of God can work powerfully in his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THOUGHT TO PONDER:<\/strong> Do my giving and priorities reflect true honour for God? What adjustment can I make so that my substance reflects the value I place on Him?<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
