F<\/span>reedom in Christ must be preserved through sound understanding and guarded against wrong doctrines. Galatians 5:1 says, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Wrong doctrines are subtle yokes that can enslave believers again after they have been set free. Many Christians today live under unnecessary burdens because they have believed teachings that are not rooted in the truth of the Word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you do not understand the true gospel of liberty, religious traditions, and man-made rules will bring you into bondage again.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Paul warned in Colossians 2:8, “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” Every believer must be discerning. Not every teaching that sounds religious is spiritual. Some are philosophies mixed with human reasoning that have no power to produce spiritual freedom. Understanding the truth about your new life in Christ will shield you from being manipulated by wrong teachings. You are not accepted by God based on hairdos, food choices, or outward appearances. You are accepted based on your faith in the finished work of Christ. Any doctrine that shifts the focus from Christ\u2019s sacrifice to human efforts is a potential bondage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You must know what the Bible says and believe it above the opinions of men. A Christian who understands his liberty in Christ will not fall prey to teachings that enslave the soul and quench faith. You are free in Christ to serve God with a clear conscience and a bold heart. Let your Christian life be built on the unchanging truth of God’s Word. Test every doctrine by the Word. Ask questions when you are unsure. Do not be quick to swallow every teaching. Protect your liberty by standing firm in the revelation of the truth. You have been called to live free, not to be bound by chains of religion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THOUGHT TO PONDER:<\/strong> Are you standing fast in the liberty Christ purchased for you? What wrong teachings or religious ideas do you need to reject in order to walk in true freedom?<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

PRAYER: Father, thank You for setting me free through Christ. Help me to stand fast in my liberty and guard my heart against every wrong doctrine. Give me discernment to test every teaching by Your Word and to live boldly in the freedom You have given me. In Jesus\u2019 name, Amen.
