In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, we are instructed, “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” This verse challenges us to maintain a heart of gratitude, regardless of our circumstances, because gratitude aligns us with God’s will.

Psalm 100:4 encourages us to “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him and bless his name.” Gratitude is not just an act of politeness; it is an expression of faith that acknowledges God’s sovereignty and goodness. When we give thanks, we shift our focus from our problems to His power, enabling us to experience His peace and joy.

The story of the ten lepers in Luke 17 illustrates the power of gratitude. While all ten were healed, only one returned to thank Jesus, and he was commended for his faith. Gratitude not only honours God but also positions us to receive greater blessings. It opens our hearts to see His hand at work and deepens our relationship with Him.

Today, cultivate a spirit of gratitude by reflecting on God’s blessings.

Write down three things you are thankful for and praise Him for His faithfulness. As you practice gratitude, you will find renewed strength and a greater awareness of His presence in your life.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: What are you grateful for today?
